Starting on Saturday June 20th, four artists from Tallulah Falls, Anthony Morgan, a.k.a Fat Head, Susie Schnurr, Nancy Garrett, and Caitlin Hildebrandt, will begin painting a mural on the front of Tallulah Point Overlook depicting and honoring Karl Wallenda’s walk across Tallulah Gorge 45 years ago. We feel this is a wonderful tribute to this daredevil act, in celebration of the 45 anniversary. In 1970, Karl Wallenda walked across the Gorge; he came to Tallulah Point and signed autographs, and ever since then, the Point has been a mecca for folks wishing to see where he walked. With the information board out on our porch containing original memorabilia, we have diligently kept the walk alive, and are pleased, now on the 45th anniversary, to continue this tradition with our “Art in Action” event as our four local artists paint the Wallenda mural, “A Walk on the Wild Side”. It is going to be so exciting to see what they come up with, each one adding their own distinctive style and perspective to the mural. You can be a part of this as they paint their first brush stroke on the 20th, and then the last one on the 28th! They will also be selling pieces of their own work for you to take home with you. We are proud and pleased to be presenting this “Art in Action” during the Tallulah Gorge Skywalk Celebration! Watch these four artists transform the wall behind them into a beautiful piece of artwork!!
